What this area of our work covers.
This area supports young people developing enterprises. It covers testing an idea against real demand, understanding customers, pricing and basic financial discipline, planning operations, and the personal habits that enterprise requires.
AYCADO delivers this work because self employment is a realistic and often necessary path for young Africans, and because enthusiasm alone destroys a great deal of scarce capital. Young entrepreneurs are frequently encouraged to start and rarely taught to test, cost or plan.
The approach is deliberately sober. Participants are supported to examine whether an idea works, to change it when the evidence says so, and to build slowly on something real.

Practical experience
How it is practised.
Participants work on their own enterprise or idea throughout. They test assumptions with real potential customers, revise their approach, produce simple costings and present the result for challenge.
Where mentors from enterprise backgrounds are available, participants receive direct practitioner feedback on their plans.

Why it matters for work.
Enterprise capability creates opportunity rather than waiting for it, and it can generate income and employment for others. The same capabilities of commercial judgement, financial discipline and customer understanding are also valued in employment.

Why this work matters
The wider significance.
Africa's development will be shaped by the judgement of people who are currently young. Leadership, enterprise, digital capability and creative thinking are therefore not optional extras. They determine whether a generation waits for opportunity or builds it.
