Who we serve

Young professionals

Early-career professionals building competence, confidence and progression.

Who they are

Understanding this group.

Young professionals are already working, and are usually discovering that the requirements of progression differ from the requirements of appointment. Performance now depends on judgement, communication, collaboration and the ability to take responsibility for outcomes rather than tasks.

This group often develops by trial and error, without guidance, feedback or any structured view of what the next step requires. Modest, well targeted support at this stage has a disproportionate effect on a career.

Developmental needs

Progression capability
Leadership, project and communication skills that support responsibility beyond individual work.
Honest feedback
An accurate account of their performance and readiness from someone with no stake in flattering them.
Additional skills
Digital, analytical and professional capability that their role increasingly assumes.
A wider network
Professional relationships beyond their immediate employer or institution.

How AYCADO supports them

Our support for this group.

AYCADO supports young professionals with skills development, leadership and project training, mentorship and professional exposure, delivered in formats that fit alongside employment. Online and evening sessions are used specifically for this group.

The focus is progression rather than entry: performing well in the role held now, and preparing credibly for the one after it.

Skills and capabilities

What they develop with us.

  • Leadership, delegation and decision making
  • Project planning, delivery and reporting
  • Professional writing, presentation and analysis
  • Digital and data handling capability

Practical experience

Doing real work.

Young professionals apply their learning directly to their own work, and can contribute to AYCADO project and facilitation activity, which develops leadership capability in a lower risk setting than their workplace.

Career development

Preparing for opportunity.

Career guidance supports decisions about progression, specialisation and transition, including the difficult question of when to stay and when to move. Application and interview preparation is available for internal and external opportunities.

Mentorship and exposure

Guidance from others.

Mentorship connects young professionals with people further along the same path, and many are also well placed to begin mentoring students and graduates, which develops their own leadership as much as it helps others.
