Who we serve
Secondary & university students
Young people still in formal education who want practical capability alongside academic study.

Who they are
Understanding this group.
Students in secondary school and at university are studying hard for qualifications that matter, and are usually receiving no preparation at all for what happens after them. They are assessed on knowledge and will shortly be assessed on communication, conduct, teamwork, judgement and evidence of applied work.
This group has the greatest advantage of time. A student who begins developing professional capability two or three years before graduating leaves education with something more than a certificate, and with a clear idea of the direction they are heading in.
Developmental needs
- Direction
- Realistic information about the paths available, what each requires and which ones fit their capability and circumstances.
- Practical capability
- Communication, teamwork, digital and problem solving skills that formal study rarely develops deliberately.
- Early experience
- A first opportunity to do real work, take responsibility and see how professional environments operate.
- Confidence
- Evidence of their own ability, built through completed work rather than encouragement.
How AYCADO supports them
Our support for this group.
AYCADO works with students through training sessions, workshops, practical learning activity and mentorship, delivered both in person and online so that study is not disrupted. Sessions are designed to fit around academic timetables and can be hosted with schools and universities directly.
The emphasis for this group is on foundations and exposure: learning to communicate, work with others, think clearly and present well, while beginning to understand the labour market they will enter.
Skills and capabilities
What they develop with us.
- Communication, presentation and academic writing
- Teamwork, collaboration and structured problem solving
- Research, referencing and academic integrity
- Core digital and productivity capability
Practical experience
Doing real work.
Students take part in group projects, practical workshop assignments and youth led community initiatives. These give them something concrete to point to long before they hold any formal work experience.
Career development
Preparing for opportunity.
Early career planning support helps students choose subjects, activities and first roles deliberately rather than by default. Application and interview preparation is available before they need it, which is when it is most useful.
Mentorship and exposure
Guidance from others.
Mentorship and professional exposure give students access to people already working in the fields they are considering. A single honest conversation at this stage frequently prevents years of misdirection.
